Sure the comedians who swear or use scatological humor can get laughs but they're uncomfortable laughs.
A farce or slapstick humor does well universally.
Humor results when society says you can't scratch certain things in public...
It may almost be a question whether such wisdom as many of us have in our mature years has not come from the dying out of the power of temptation rather than as the results of thought and resolution.
