I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from everyone loves music.

Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world then it can only happen through music.

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.

The dubbing of the music and effects is really incredible today. You're feeling gun shots. I mean it's not the way people say it is but the gunshot sounds real. And cars sound real. Whenever I think about movies I always look at that art process as having the best of a lot of worlds. Because if you watch a great film you have a musical element to it not just on the scoring but in the way that the shots are edited - that has music and rhythm and time.

I'd love to act more. I've had to turn down multiple movies because I was on tour but it's encouraging to know that someday there might be the right role the right timing. And I've been writing a lot of music so hopefully very soon I'll have recorded a project of my own. I also want to get a boat and open a restaurant.

We were raised without movies theater or music. We had only nature the hills the trees. When I got on the set of 'Manon ' I wasn't star-struck because I didn't know what a star was.

Music in movies is all about dissonance and consonance tension and release.

Movies for adults sucked in the 1980s and music for adults sucked even worse whether we're talking about Kathleen Turner flicks or Sting albums the decade's non-teen culture has no staying power at all.

But then I go through long periods where I don't listen to things usually when I'm working. In between the records and in between the writing I suck up books and music and movies and anything I can find.

What I like to do is just make good music good movies hopefully perform a good show full of energy and just have some fun.

I've made three musical movies which is pretty good considering that not many are made but I was lucky in other ways. I came along when independent movies were starting to boom.

The movies I watch and the music I listen to and the books I read - those are important to me. It's very important to me and I don't know what I would do without those things.
