I am not suggesting that all those missionary organizations working in Haiti should pack up and go home but I am urging them to understand that Haiti does not need clever Americans with newly contrived schemes for saving their country.

Now I know there are many Americans who say 'Get out of Afghanistan. Bring 'em all home.' And there are others who say 'Put in hundreds of thousands of more.'

Today's misery is real unemployment home foreclosures and bankruptcies. This is the Obama Misery Index and its at a record high. Its going to take more than new rhetoric to put Americans back to work - its going to take a new president.

For most of our history Americans enjoyed both liberty and security from foreign threats.

For most of our history no one dared to tell Americans 'you don't build that.'

When President Obama entered the White House the economy was in a free-fall. The auto industry: on its back. The banks: frozen up. More than three million Americans had already lost their jobs. And America's bravest our men and women in uniform were fighting what would soon be the longest wars in our history.

Let me tell you never before in the history of this planet has anybody made the progress that African-Americans have made in a 30-year period in spite of many black folks and white folks lying to one another.

September 11 was terrible but if one goes back over the history of the IRA what happened to the Americans wasn't that terrible.

What people forget is that the most radical thing about Obama is that he was the first black man in history to imagine that he could become president who was able to make other Americans believe it as well. Other than that he is a centrist just like I try to be. He's been bridging divisions his whole life.

My father and I made genetics history. We were the first African-Americans and the first father and son anywhere to have their genomes sequenced.

Americans believe with all their heart the vast majority of them and the vast majority of Floridians that the United States of America is simply the single greatest nation in all of human history.

This is the greatest society in all of human history the greatest country ever. Many of the decisions being made in Washington today by both parties are threatening that greatness. And if we stay on this road we're on right now our children are going to be the first Americans ever to inherit a diminished country.

In a typical history book black Americans are mentioned in the context of slavery or civil rights. There's so much more to the story.

Unlike any other leader in modern American history we are led today by a president that has decided to pit Americans against each other.

Americans are rising to the tasks of history and they expect the same of us.

Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle.

The highest-income Americans don't need tax-free health insurance mortgage interest deductions or deferred taxation on retirement funds.

Many of us believe that we need health care reform. That being said - Americans felt like they weren't being listened to. There were a lot of people across the political spectrum who said we don't want a one-size-fits-all healthcare plan.

Security is still the most important issue facing Washington state residents and millions of Americans - the security of having a job of access to affordable health care of a quality education and of protecting our homeland and defending our nation.

The good news is Americans know firsthand the benefits of a free market - more choices lower prices higher quality - and there is no reason why we cannot help them see these same benefits in health care.

One in seven Americans lives without health insurance and that's a truly staggering figure.

Because when we think about the real facts: 44 million Americans without health insurance millions without jobs a 50-year high on mortgage foreclosures an historic high the third year in a row on personal bankruptcies.

Seven presidents before him - Democrats and Republicans - tried to expand health care to all Americans. President Obama got it done.

Most Americans want health insurance.
