Music is for people. The word 'pop' is simply short for popular. It means that people like it. I'm just a normal jerk who happens to make music. As long as my brain and fingers work I'm cool.

If at any moment of the day I ever think I'm remotely cool at all which is hardly ever I have two daughters who make sure that never happens.

Sometimes movie-making happens like clockwork other times like a car accident.

I like structure - like driving: go past the school on the street stay on the right side no hitting the car go in right you'll see a big church stop and take a left and you'll have it. By doing this I'm giving a structure of life a path of light and showing what happens between me and me which is something very beautiful.

A lot of fun stuff happens when you go out on a bike compared to when you're in a car. You're more in the environment. It's enjoyable. Even when It's raining It's still fun.

I have a terrific marriage but unlike a lot of relationships where they ebb and flow no matter what happens you fall deeper and deeper in love every day. It's kind of the best thing that can happen to you. It's thrilling.

That's what happens nowadays with people working on computers. They can so easily fix things with their mouse and take out all the 'Oh somebody coughed in the background we need to take that out' - or somebody hit a bad note. Those are all the best moments.

Like anything else that happens on its own the act of writing is beyond currency. Money is great stuff to have but when it comes to the act of creation the best thing is not to think of money too much. It constipates the whole process.

Some of the best ideas I get seem to happen when I'm doing mindless manual labor or exercise. I'm not sure how that happens but it leaves me free for remarkable ideas to occur.
