I'm the fourth generation to be in show business. It's pretty neat it's nice to have that family history.

All through history there have always been movements where business was not just about the accumulation of proceeds but also for the public good.

The history of the last century shows as we shall see later that the advice given to governments by bankers like the advice they gave to industrialists was consistently good for bankers but was often disastrous for governments businessmen and the people generally.

The American economy has always been driven by the entrepreneurial nature of its citizens and blocking access to affordable health care will only suffocate growth within the small business sector of our economy.

For those that are working part time in small businesses or who are unemployed and do not currently have health insurance we want to make sure that you are covered.

The majority of Americans receive health insurance coverage through their employers but with rising health care costs many small businesses can no longer afford to provide coverage for their employees.

I understand that in these difficult economic times the potential for any additional expense is not welcomed by American businesses. But in the long run the health insurance reform law promises to cut health-care costs for U.S. businesses not expand them.

Because what happens is as the economy suffers tax revenues go down. But unlike businesses where at least your variable costs go down in government your variable costs go up: unemployment insurance workmen's compensation health care benefits welfare you name it.

There is much that public policy can do to support American entrepreneurs. Health insurance reform will make it easier for entrepreneurs to take a chance on a new business without putting their family's health at risk. Tort reform will make it easier to take prudent risks on new products in a number of sectors.

You bet every member of Congress who votes for this bill ought to read it read it thoroughly and understand that what we're looking at here amounts to nothing more than a government takeover of our health care economy paid for with nearly a trillion dollars in new taxes on individuals and small businesses. And it must be opposed.

I'm a parent and I try to take care of my health and keep my life in order. In the last few years I've really had to decide what's important to me and it seems to me that my family and my health are top on the list. And those have nothing to do with show business.

Today's business and health care climate may not be pleasant. Cutbacks pay cuts and layoffs do not make anyone's job easy. But that does not mean that the humor need stop.
