In high school I was Mr. Choir Boy. I had solos I was helping out the tenors with their parts and our choir teacher would ask me what songs we should do.

I had a really creative teacher at primary school. He used to get us doing things such as singing Spandau Ballet in drag in the choir and I remember loving it.

In middle school I really didn't have music but in high school I remember taking a lot of choir and drama.

So my advice to young singers is to either join your school or church's choir or find one in your local area. Choral music at any level teaches you so much about musicianship and blending your voice.
