Humanism: an exaltation of freedom but one limited by our need to exercise it as an integral part of nature and society.

Humanism was not wrong in thinking that truth beauty liberty and equality are of infinite value but in thinking that man can get them for himself without grace.

I am trying to make art that relates to the deepest and most mythic concerns of human kind and I believe that at this moment of history feminism is humanism.

If those committed to the quest fail they will be forgiven. When lost they will find another way. The moral imperative of humanism is the endeavor alone whether successful or not provided the effort is honorable and failure memorable.
