I never realized until lately that women were supposed to be the inferior sex.

People think I'm crazy because I travel too much but I haven't been doing any of that lately because I got a little sick this year and I've tried to take care of it.

I also watched a lot of football and sports. I haven't had much time to watch too much TV lately.

Lately I did a film called All I Want for Christmas and it was well received. This gave me a new point of view and a new respect for my work as an actress.

I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

When I'm not writing I read loads of fiction but I've been writing quite constantly lately so I've been reading a lot of nonfiction - philosophy religion science history social or cultural studies.

It's useless to try and make rhyme or reason of it because one guy thinks one thing and the other guy sees a whole other thing. So I try not to take them too seriously. Lately I have them screened so I only read the positive ones.

I don't really have a style icon but I really admire the way people dress like Gaga Rihanna and Gwen Stefani. It's good to be inspired by singers who write music and dress incredibly - rather than models and people in the fashion industry who dress immaculately anyway because it's their style.

I don't know what has happened to movies but lately every movie is at least 20 minutes too long. It used to be that if you were three hours long it was because it was epic - a movie about Gandhi something with very important subject matters.

I don't see that many movies lately that are actually about something that are trying to challenge something about the way that people interact.

I have asked myself once or twice lately what was my natural bent. I have no doubt at all: It is to look at each day for the evil of that day and have a go at it and that is why I have never failed to have an acute interest in each morning's letters.

The other day I got a text from a boy but it wasn't hot. I mean if you're going to text me every day you haven't seen me for months and you're trying to seduce me you'd better spice up that text and make it more exciting than 'How was your day? I hope you're having a beautiful one.' Sadly I haven't been doing a lot of kissing lately.

Something I've realized lately to my shock is that I am an optimist in that I think humans are almost infinitely capable of self-change and self-modification and that we really can build the future that we want if we're smart about it.

I'm healthy now. I probably wouldn't say I'm at my best fitness level and I haven't played that much lately but I'm healthy and that's all that matters.

One of the things I've started doing lately is tracking my dreams. I feel like there's a lot of information there and you can really bring those emotions to the situations that may feel mundane or familiar. That gives them new life and gives you a new relationship with it - if that makes any sort of sense.

A sad fact of life lately at the Museum of Modern Art is that when it comes to group shows of contemporary painting from the collection the bar has been set pretty low.

I'm jamming 'Black Sabbath Vol. 4' all the time. Zappa's 'Cruising With Ruben & The Jets.' A lot of Gong lately. Some Hawkwind. The Residents' 'Duck Stab' is amazing. Some Fugs. Lots of stuff man. I'm pretty schizophrenic with records.
