The other two things are... well I had a huge appetite for old black and white movies on BBC 2. At the weekends they used to run matinees and the more romantic the better.
When I was growing up in New Jersey my mom would regularly take my sister and I into the city to see shows. I have many fond memories of standing in the half-price ticket line in Times Square and going to matinees.
Years later I would hear my father say the divorce had left him dating his children. That still meant picking us up every Sunday for a matinee and if he had the money an early dinner somewhere.
The war on drugs is wrong both tactically and morally. It assumes that people are too stupid too reckless and too irresponsible to decide whether and under what conditions to consume drugs. The war on drugs is morally bankrupt.
