The proper reply to right wing religiosity is not to insist that politics and religion don't mix. This is the stock response of the left.
Here's the thing with me and the religious thing. This is the flat-out truth: I find the religiosity and philosophy in the music. I don't find it anywhere else.
Particularly black Americans many of them from quotes that I have seen and conversations I've had are sort of insulted that the civil rights movement is being hijacked - the rhetoric of the civil rights movement is being hijacked for something like same sex marriage. Black Americans tend to have a higher degree of religiosity.
Religiosity turns out to be the best indicator of civic involvement: it's more accurate than education age income gender or race.
All the bands get along really well. That's one of the biggest things on a tour. It's great to get all these cool bands together but if they don't get along it sucks.
