Amateurism is the strongest form of discrimination in sports. Because it discriminates against the underprivileged it discriminates against the poor. If we want sports to go back to the wealthy let's make it amateur again.
The value systems of those with access to power and of those far removed from such access cannot be the same. The viewpoint of the privileged is unlike that of the underprivileged.
I am involved with 'Write Girl ' which is such a great organization because they go into inner city schools and work with underprivileged girls to pair them up with other writers. And it gets them learning to express themselves and become familiar with their own voice. They have a 100% success ratio getting those girls into college.
I'd like to one day be featured on a list of inspirational people who have made a difference in the world whether it be helping underprivileged people or putting an end to the poaching of wildlife in Africa.
The only thing I believe is this: A player does not have to like a manager and he does not have to respect a manager. All he has to do is obey the rules.
