While tributes to Americans who had lost their lives in battle had been held in a number of towns across the nation one of the more well-known stories about the beginnings of Memorial Day is the story about General John Logan.

As America celebrates Memorial Day we pay tribute to those who have given their lives in our nation's wars.

The primary source of the appeal of Christianity was Jesus - His incarnation His life His crucifixion and His resurrection.

The denominational world tries to pressure its members to focus on the birth of Christ but in doing so layers of guilt are imposed and competition gets complicated as one Christmas program tries to outdo the other.

The path of least resistance and least trouble is a mental rut already made. It requires troublesome work to undertake the alternation of old beliefs.

The United States strongly condemns the illegal disclosure of classified information. It puts people's lives in danger threatens our national security and undermines our efforts to work with other countries to solve shared problems.

A sense of duty is useful in work but offensive in personal relations. People wish to be liked not to be endured with patient resignation.

Third we will make trade work for America by forging new trade agreements. And when nations cheat in trade there will be unmistakable consequences.

Reform is not pleasant but grievous no person can reform themselves without suffering and hard work how much less a nation.

Young people are threatened... by the evil use of advertising techniques that stimulate the natural inclination to avoid hard work by promising the immediate satisfaction of every desire.

My mind rebels at stagnation. Give me problems give me work give me the most abstruse cryptogram or the most intricate analysis and I am in my own proper atmosphere. But I abhor the dull routine of existence. I crave for mental exaltation.

In a very real sense it will not be one man going to the moon it will be an entire nation. For all of us must work to put him there.

If the abstract rights of man will bear discussion and explanation those of women by a parity of reasoning will not shrink from the same test.

To honor our national promise to our veterans we must continue to improve services for our men and women in uniform today and provide long overdue benefits for the veterans and military retirees who have already served.

I love Sweden. The entire world should be like Sweden. They all like to drink and get naked and the women are hot. I can't think of a better nation on the planet.

I didn't want to set up a women's studies program. I thought women should learn to operate in a coeducational atmosphere because especially in national security and international affairs it's male-dominated.

The struggles waged by nations are weak only when they lack support in the hearts of their women.

The fact that the church is convinced of not having the right to confer priestly ordination on women is now considered by some as irreconcilable with the European Constitution.

And so whether they came here on the Mayflower on a slave ship or on an airplane from Havana we are all descendants of the men and women who built here the nation that saved the world.

Women if the soul of the nation is to be saved I believe that you must become its soul.

The men and women of Afghanistan are building a nation that is free and proud and fighting terror - and America is honored to be their friend.
