Analysts may be correct that the presidential election won't primarily turn on entitlements reform but by choosing Paul Ryan as his running mate Mitt Romney can contrary to conventional wisdom make it a winning issue and lay the foundation for a reform mandate when he wins.

No party has a monopoly on wisdom. No democracy works without compromise. But when Governor Romney and his allies in Congress tell us we can somehow lower our deficit by spending trillions more on new tax breaks for the wealthy - well you do the math. I refuse to go along with that. And as long as I'm President I never will.

If Romney explains why where we are with Obama is unacceptable why whither we are tending is even worse - and why his own alternative path forward is superior - then we trust the American people to make the right choice in November.

The people of Wisconsin have been good to me. I've tried to live up to their trust. Facts matter. Science matters. Reason matters. Mitt Romney has shown an inability to respect any of the three. President Barack Obama not only respects them he relies on them. He is an overwhelming and unquestioned choice to continue as president.

Voters don't have to love him Romney advisers say but they will respect him.

Attacks on a politician's identity - questioning Romney's religion say or Obama's birthplace - tend to come when an opponent is desperate and can't sell himself.

I don't think Romney is wacky at all but religion makes intelligent people say and do wacky things believe and affirm crazy things. Left on his own Romney would never have said something like the Garden Of Eden was in Missouri and will be again.

Mitt Romney understands free enterprise he has worked in it. He has seen companies succeed and he has seen them fail too. He knows what people think about when they invest their money.

Whether it was his ability to turn around the Massachusetts economy or turn around businesses in the private sector Mitt Romney has demonstrated the leadership that we need in the White House to get the country on the right track.

I think President Obama could have handled politics and policies differently. But he has been decisive strong and consistent - important qualities in a president. Mitt Romney is indeed an Etch A Sketch the antithesis of leadership.
