A tiny and closed fraternity of privileged men elected by no one and enjoying a monopoly sanctioned and licensed by government.

Making recess appointments when the Senate isn't in recess is neither rational nor moderate. It's a raw misuse of executive power by a president whose love of government is his most vulnerable spot with the electorate.

President Reagan was elected on the promise of getting government off the backs of the people and now he demands that government wrap itself around the waists of the people.

People know something has gone terribly wrong with our government and it has gotten so far off track. But people also know that there is nothing wrong in America that a good old-fashioned election can't fix.

A President needs political understanding to run the government but he may be elected without it.

Now let me be clear. The path I lay out is not one paved with ever increasing government checks and cradle to grave assurance that government will always be the solution. If this election is a bidding war for who can promise the most goodies and the most benefits I'm not your president. You have that president today.

Democracy is a form of government that substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few.

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter taller richer and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

Ninety eight percent of the adults in this country are decent hardworking honest Americans. It's the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity. But then we elected them.

Bad officials are the ones elected by good citizens who do not vote.

Good books like good friends are few and chosen the more select the more enjoyable.

And when these advances are made hydrogen can fill critical energy needs beyond transportation. Hydrogen can also be used to heat and generate electricity for our homes. The future possibilities of this energy source are enormous.

It is our job as members of parliament to legislate with an eye to the long term future to look over the horizon beyond the next election and ensure that as far as we can what we do today will make Australia a better place a safer place for future generations to live in.

As long as I do a good job I believe the future is going to take care of itself but actually I like very much being in elected office and there is no consideration about doing anything different until I can be assured that we are going to have the best voting systems in the country.

We need the help of other member countries and leaders who like us want to see a change in Europe's direction. That's also my logic when I tell voters that electing me president will not only shape France's future but also initiate change across all of Europe.

The debt-ceiling vote isn't about what will be done in the future it is about the integrity of America's commitment to support the bonds we issue. Elected officials have an obligation to maintain that integrity regardless of whether they voted for the programs that required the borrowing in the first place.

For 50 years nuclear power stations have produced three products which only a lunatic could want: bomb-explosive plutonium lethal radioactive waste and electricity so dear it has to be heavily subsidised. They leave to future generations the task and most of the cost of making safe sites that have been polluted half-way to eternity.

A lost election can have the jolt of a drop through the gallows door leading to a dark night of the soul in which the future presses down like a cloud that will never lift.

I am confident that when the facts and policies have been examined when the record of performances have been reviewed Barack Obama and Joe Biden will once again be elected to lead our beloved country to a better future.
