Watching John Lasseter's films I think I can understand better than anyone that what he's doing is going straight ahead with his vision and working really hard to get that vision into film form. And I feel that my understanding this of him is my friendship towards him.
Friendship with ones self is all important because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.
If technology has finally caught up with individual liberty why would anyone who loves freedom want to rethink that?
I don't have anything to prove anymore. I don't have a record deal no one has any expectations I'm in a position of freedom. I don't need anyone's approval.
Widespread state control over art and culture has left no room for freedom of expression in the country. For more than 60 years anyone with a dissenting opinion has been suppressed. Chinese art is merely a product: it avoids any meaningful engagement. There is no larger context. Its only purpose is to charm viewers with its ambiguity.
We are expected to believe that anyone who objects to the Department of Homeland Security or the USA Patriot Act is a terrorist and that the only way to preserve our freedom is to hand it over to the government for safekeeping.
No I don't believe in genius. I believe in freedom. I think anyone can do it. Anyone can be like Rembrandt.
The only freedom I care about is the freedom to do right the freedom to do wrong I am ready to part with on the cheapest terms to anyone who will take it of me.
Personal identity seems like it's just such an American archetype from Holly Golightly re-inventing herself in 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' to Jay Gatsby in 'The Great Gatsby.' It seems like the sort of archetypal American issue. If you're given the freedom to be anything or be anyone what do you do with it?
If I can wake up everyday before I die and know that I don't have to serve anyone food or drinks I will be happy!
Animals that we eat are raised for food in the most economical way possible and the serious food producers do it in the most humane way possible. I think anyone who is a carnivore needs to understand that meat does not originally come in these neat little packages.
I also meet with city officials representatives from governors' offices really anyone in that sort of position who has shown an interest in youth fitness to let them know why this sort of program is so important. I give the same message when I speak at conferences.
I fear it's because religion is man's attempt to reach God and when he feels he has succeeded he cannot abide anyone else's claim to have done the same.
With all of the divisiveness that is going on in the country we live in so much of it is based around just fear of the other. And anyone who does not look like me walk like me talk like me have sex like me they're the other and I'm afraid of them. And hopefully we will learn that it's just not scary. There's nothing to be afraid of.
I don't think that anyone seriously fears that the world can be blown to pieces all together. But what one can fear and rightly so are regional things like in the Middle East India Pakistan the Korean Peninsula borders in Africa etc.
We poison our lives with fear of burglary and shipwreck and ask anyone the house is never burgled and the ship never goes down.
Well I am now convinced there is no kind of fear or anxiety anyone has to live with.
Americans are terrified because so many of them have been laid off in recent years and months and they fear that they may be next. Even if they have not been laid off or have not known anyone laid off they definitely know someone who has lost his home.
If you fear making anyone mad then you ultimately probe for the lowest common denominator of human achievement.
Fear is not in the habit of speaking truth when perfect sincerity is expected perfect freedom must be allowed nor has anyone who is apt to be angry when he hears the truth any cause to wonder that he does not hear it.
We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal private solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.
I always regarded people who want fame with a lot of suspicion. Unless you have a product to sell I don't know why anyone would want to be famous. I can't imagine what need that would fill.
I'm famous for being nicer to my fans than anyone on the face of the Earth because I figure a) They pay my salary and b) It's probably like a big moment in your life to meet somebody so I would say just come on up.
I'm hardly famous. I wouldn't want to trade places with anyone else.
Advertising is the art of convincing people to spend money they don't have for something they don't need.
