What is more comforting to the terrorists around the world: the failure to pass the 9/11 legislation because we lacked 'a majority of the majority ' or putting aside partisan politics to enact tough new legislation with America's security foremost in mind?

The banking collapse was caused more than anything by bad government policy and the total failure of bad regulation rather than by greed.

It's probably foolish to expect relationships to go on forever and to say that because something only lasts 10 years it's a failure.

Please know that I am aware of the hazards. I want to do it because I want to do it. Women must try to do things as men have tried. When they fail their failure must be a challenge to others.

Most success springs from an obstacle or failure. I became a cartoonist largely because I failed in my goal of becoming a successful executive.

Failure is authentic and because it's authentic it's real and genuine and because of that it's a pure state of being.

We need to teach the highly educated man that it is not a disgrace to fail and that he must analyze every failure to find its cause. He must learn how to fail intelligently for failing is one of the greatest arts in the world.

Why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me.

Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause erosion of confidence and the downward spiral begins.

There is but one cause of human failure. And that is man's lack of faith in his true Self.

Think twice before you speak because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.

It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes... we make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions - especially selfish ones.

Far better is it to dare mighty things to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Many children are natural fantasists I think perhaps because their imaginations have yet to be clobbered into submission by experience.

I got pregnant at 40 by surprise. It's funny because when we found out we were pregnant I said 'Okay let's experience that.' You just have to just go with it because it's rare.

But because we've all been readers we know what the experience is like and we hope that what certain writers have given to us we will give to someone.

You want to do something that shows some type individuality and talent and imagination - at the same time you want to be truthful to the predecessors because obviously the audience liked something about them and you have to replicate that experience to a certain extent.

My advice would be to write what is most personal and specific to your experience or your life. And your voice will emerge and because of its specificity it will be universal.

It's really fun at night because I can see the baby kicking. I can feel the knee or the foot. The baby is starting to get heavy and it's a really incredible feeling. I'm so grateful I get to experience this.
