So it is in poetry. All we ask is that the mood recorded shall impress us as having been of the kind that exhausts the imaginative capacity if it fails to do this the failure will announce itself either in prose or in insignificant verse.

But while success and failure depend on conditions the mind neither waxes nor wanes.

The point is not to take the world's opinion as a guiding star but to go one's way in life and working unerringly neither depressed by failure nor seduced by applause.

Keep in mind that neither success nor failure is ever final.

For me titles are either a natural two-second experience or stressful enough to give you an ulcer. If they don't pop out perfect on the first try they can be really hard to repair. Or worse if the author thinks they pop out perfect but the publishing house does not agree it's difficult to shift gears. And then? Then you go insane.

But beginners to the World Economics Forum have to understand there is no single Davos experience and there is no single Davos community either. There are numerous tribes who interact only at a minimal level.

The monsters of our childhood do not fade away neither are they ever wholly monstrous. But neither in my experience do we ever reach a plane of detachment regarding our parents however wise and old we may become. To pretend otherwise is to cheat.

I have such happy memories of performing in a choir and I don't think I'd have got where I am today without all that experience. So my advice to young singers is to either join your school or church's choir or find one in your local area. Choral music at any level teaches you so much about musicianship and blending your voice.

And to get real work experience you need a job and most jobs will require you to have had either real work experience or a graduate degree.

Many people know so little about what is beyond their short range of experience. They look within themselves - and find nothing! Therefore they conclude that there is nothing outside themselves either.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

The bill neither confers nor abridges the rights of anyone but simply declares that in civil rights there shall be equality among all classes of citizens and that all alike shall be subject to the same punishment.

There are a lot of things that fit on a bumper sticker in terms of either liberty or equality or progress that when made more concrete just don't pan out.

Years ago nobody was elected on the economic ticket. It was either the education platform or it was health or it was other issues. It is only recently that economic values have superceded every other human value.

In education they say either property taxes have to go up or we'll have poor education - that's a false choice.

Both class and race survive education and neither should. What is education then? If it doesn't help a human being to recognize that humanity is humanity what is it for? So you can make a bigger salary than other people?

Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained.

Together we can and must fight for justice for our children and protect them from draconian tax cuts and budget choices that threaten their survival education and preparation for the future. If they are not ready for tomorrow neither is America.
