The one thing I learned the most about acting is it takes a tremendous amount of courage to go there and stand still. It takes courage and guts to step out of your mind frame and depict something.

To me there is no greater act of courage than being the one who kisses first.

You take a number of small steps which you believe are right thinking maybe tomorrow somebody will treat this as a dangerous provocation. And then you wait. If there is no reaction you take another step: courage is only an accumulation of small steps.

I'm still shy - I'm no good at my children's parent-teacher conferences and I'm slowly learning how to ask for what I want. But I now know that I have a reserve of courage to draw upon when I really need it. There's nothing that I'm too scared to have a go at.

There is not a single Muslim leader today who has the courage and commitment to defend Islam and Muslims they are all in awe of the United States and other Western powers and are indebted to them.

But we got up there and decided to stick to this mix of power chords and funk and that's where it really started for us. In having the courage to take that decision. To take a gamble not just with our music but our lives.

There are two types of courage involved with what I did. When it comes to picking up a rifle millions of people are capable of doing that as we see in Iraq or Vietnam. But when it comes to risking their careers or risking being invited to lunch by the establishment it turns out that's remarkably rare.

There is hope in dreams imagination and in the courage of those who wish to make those dreams a reality.

Limit to courage? There is no limit to courage.

There are no greater treasures than the highest human qualities such as compassion courage and hope. Not even tragic accident or disaster can destroy such treasures of the heart.

We are biological creatures. We are born we live we die. There is no transcendent purpose to existence. At best we are creatures of reason and by using reason we can cure ourselves of emotional excess. Purged of both hope and fear we find courage in the face of helplessness insignificance and uncertainty.

As for courage and will - we cannot measure how much of each lies within us we can only trust there will be sufficient to carry through trials which may lie ahead.

There's only one requirement of any of us and that is to be courageous. Because courage as you might know defines all other human behavior. And I believe - because I've done a little of this myself - pretending to be courageous is just as good as the real thing.

I think there's a difference between ditzy and dumb. Dumb is just not knowing. Ditzy is having the courage to ask!

At the bottom of not a little of the bravery that appears in the world there lurks a miserable cowardice. Men will face powder and steel because they have not the courage to face public opinion.

Courage is doing what you are afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you are scared.

There are pretenders to piety as well as to courage.

Leaders come in many forms with many styles and diverse qualities. There are quiet leaders and leaders one can hear in the next county. Some find strength in eloquence some in judgment some in courage.

Then there is a still higher type of courage - the courage to brave pain to live with it to never let others know of it and to still find joy in life to wake up in the morning with an enthusiasm for the day ahead.

Life is the most exciting opportunity we have. But we have one shot. You graduate from college once and that's it. You're going out of that nest. And you have to find that courage that's deep deep deep in there. Every step of the way.

There can be no great courage where there is no confidence or assurance and half the battle is in the conviction that we can do what we undertake.

No matter what you think about the Iraq war there is one thing we can all agree on for the next days - we have to salute the courage and bravery of those who are risking their lives to vote and those brave Iraqi and American soldiers fighting to protect their right to vote.

There is nothing in the world so much admired as a man who knows how to bear unhappiness with courage.

There can be no failure to a man who has not lost his courage his character his self respect or his self-confidence. He is still a King.
