It's incredible that they censor films. It's sad.

In the West audiences think I am a stereotyped action star or that I always play hitmen or killers. But in Hong Kong I did a lot of comedy many dramatic films and most of all romantic roles lots of love stories. I was like a romance novel hero.

There are so many different reasons as to why I love riding trains. But I think ultimately it's the romantic feeling of it. There's something about it that just transports me into old films.

I am a big fan of the old Howard Hawks films from the 30s and 40s I was a big Hepburn and Tracey fan for a while and Woody Allen films that are a very different kind of romantic comedy.

In terms of romantic films all-time romantic films I really like 'Gone With the Wind.' And I realize I sound so cliched saying that but there's something so absolutely romantic about it.

Mind you Roman Holiday - which is kind of a romantic comedy - is one of my favorite films and I think Audrey Hepburn is absolutely phenomenal in that movie.

If I were given a choice between two films and one was dark and explored depraved troubled or sick aspects of our culture I would always opt for that over the next romantic comedy.

I confess I am a romantic. I love romance and I think it's really fun and delicious and some of my favorite films are love stories. I think that you just get a chance to fall in love with the characters so much and you get to explore their lives so deeply.

My idea of a romantic night is to watch action films.

Other times you can get showy for three minutes and that's OK with certain films. But that isn't right with an Ang Lee movie you have to fit right in. You have to understand Ang respect him and be part of the team and not be in charge of it - he is in charge of it.

I'm looking at working with people I get on with that respect me that don't just see me as a piece of ass. Which I have experienced as well. I've nearly walked off very big films before and I would because I don't want that in my life. I want to enjoy the work I do.

Second this epic tale allows the audience to actually listen to the Native Americans and receive their wisdom. Spielberg conveys the respect for Native Americans that is normally lacking in Western films.

Yes I have made a lot of money and I have a lot of respect my films have done well and I know there are loads of loads of people who look up to me and really love me. I really just thought this is like a strange dream. I have never thought this is a success - I don't have a standard.

So it's kind of nervous to be in this situation but at the same time you look at all those actors and the work that they've done I've been in bigger films than all of them and still kept my integrity and still kept my respect.

I was writing short films and I was going through this really really really terrible end of a relationship that I didn't want to be going through. It was too much for me to process and all of a sudden I had this idea for my first feature film and I knew right away I had to start writing it.

Some of the greatest relationship films of all time the two stars have hated each other but mostly you see that chemistry.

Films have never shown the kind of relationship that can exist between two women.

There's been a slow death in a way. On the positive side there are films getting into the Academy Awards that wouldn't have but on the negative side financiers are now dominant and making all the decisions. I can't count the ways a director's vision is compromised.

It's also a question of finding good material and interesting roles. I'm not the only actress out there and good parts just don't fall into your lap that easily. But I like most of the films I've made recently and so I'm pretty positive about the future.

I would like to do something dark or small. I love independent films. I love emotional scenes. I love people who are struggling with something. I think it's just the juxtaposition to my incredibly happy positive demeanor.

I think I make films to help bolster and feed the part of me that wants to remain in a positive relationship with the world and to engage in it. So hopefully in non-sentimental ways I'm trying to make something that helps make me happy.

As I became very defined in my personal politics I turned down some films that I slightly regret now I'm not going to say what they were.

I would say that no film is apolitical. There are politics in all films. Any film that is anchored in a society any film that deals with humanity is necessarily political.

The whole thing about making films in an organic film on location is that it's not all about characters relationships and themes it's also about place and the poetry of place. It's about the spirit of what you find the accidents of what you stumble across.
