As a result of America's efforts to realize the ideals of equality and freedom blacks in America are now the freest and richest black people anywhere on the face of the earth including all of the nations that are ruled by blacks.

When my dad was badly weakened by the flu and my mom wanted to call an ambulance to take him to the emergency room he wouldn't go unless he could shave first and change into a nice shirt and a pair of slacks.

On the political front of course it's a zero-sum game. If it's all white males holding positions you bring 10 women in then it's 'Women are coming!' Get 10 blacks and it's 'Blacks are coming!' 'Hispanics are coming!' Zero-sum game. The seatmates might change but the chairs don't move. In the economy the number of chairs can actually increase.

Life is very nice but it lacks form. It's the aim of art to give it some.

The giant white cube is now impeding rather than enhancing the rhythms of art. It preprograms a viewer's journey shifts the emphasis from process to product and lacks individuality and openness. It's not that art should be seen only in rutty bombed-out environments but it should seem alive.

Architecture will always express the technical and social progress of the country in which it is carried out. If we wish to give it the human content that it lacks we must participate in the political struggle.
