As a teacher myself I've been in situations where parents come at you and sometimes parents come across like the teacher doesn't want the best for their kid and it can be really really hurtful.

He's an innocent in a lot of ways. He's a very simple person who really doesn't have the resources or the strength ultimately to handle the situation.

Yeah I think it motivates you as people start to count you out. It doesn't make you play any harder because every time you go out on the field you give 110 percent but it does give you more of an edge mentally knowing that you were in the same situation because in sports you always find yourself behind.

I knew that I did not have to buy into society's notion that I had to be handsome and healthy to be happy. I was in charge of my 'spaceship' and it was my up my down. I could choose to see this situation as a setback or as a starting point. I chose to begin life again.

In the past human society provided encouragement and opportunity for people to extend support to each other especially in highly stressful situations.

I do love science fiction but it's not really a genre unto itself it always seems to merge with another genre. It's much easier to write when you're sad. But you can end up isolated and depressed because you almost need to put yourself in that situation to have that angst to write from.

Back then a half-a-century ago the situation was totally different. Economically we were practically on our knees and politically we were still excluded from the community of nations. Today in this respect we have a totally different and much more stable basis.

So it's kind of nervous to be in this situation but at the same time you look at all those actors and the work that they've done I've been in bigger films than all of them and still kept my integrity and still kept my respect.
