Winning is habit. Unfortunately so is losing.
If winning isn't everything why do they keep score?
People challenge my nerd cred all the time. I just show them the photo of me winning my middle-school science fair wearing my Casio calculator watch and eyeglasses so big they look like they can see the future.
Winning is the science of being totally prepared.
I was at the Olympic Games winning medals and I still doubted my image. I doubted what I looked like. That's sad.
First accept sadness. Realize that without losing winning isn't so great.
It seemed romantic but also tragic - people would be winning but then lose it all or crash but fight on break bones but get back on their bikes and try to finish. Just getting to the end was seen as an achievement in itself.
American officials have bent over backwards to show how sensitive they are to Muslim culture. It didn't seem very effective. They seem to be worried about winning the respect of other people.
What I respect as far as in myself and in others is the spirit of just doing it. For better or worse it may work and it may not but I'm going to go for it. Ultimately I probably prefer to be respected for that than whether it works out or not either winning or losing.
Arsenal have won that advantage nobody gave it to them. By playing fantastic football and by winning matches and by winning trophies they won that respect that the opponent has for them.
Growing up training I use to get up so early I would wave to the garbage men going by. So I had this relationship with Blue Collar America and I really liked it. I felt that lots of those people looked forward to me winning.
I've been looking at companies that are on a positive path vs. a negative path and I've come to use the language of sports winning streaks and losing streaks.
Politics is not about winning for the sake of winning.
I'm not an old experienced hand at politics. But I am now seasoned enough to have learned that the hardest thing about any political campaign is how to win without proving that you are unworthy of winning.
Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hardwired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country's scared.
Winning the peace is harder than winning the war.
I've been keeping a diary for thirty-three years and write in it every morning. Most of it's just whining but every so often there'll be something I can use later: a joke a description a quote. It's an invaluable aid when it comes to winning arguments. 'That's not what you said on February 3 1996 ' I'll say to someone.
It's lovely to have money to give away - that's the bonus of winning the Nobel.
If money titles meant anything I'd play more tournaments. The only thing that means a lot to me is winning. If I have more wins than anybody else and win more majors than anybody else in the same year then it's been a good year.
Ultimately if you can say that I'm a bad owner and we're winning championships I can live with that. But if we're not making the playoffs and we're spending and losing money then I have to look in the mirror and say maybe I'm not taking the necessary steps to doing what it takes to run an organization.
At the end of your life you will never regret not having passed one more test not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband a friend a child or a parent.
I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
It costs a lot to sue a magazine and it's too bad that we don't have a system where the losing team has to pay the winning team's lawyers.
It is never easy to win but it is a lot easier to win when you play well. The key is winning golf tournaments when you are not playing so well. Managing your game is something that I feel that I am still learning to do.
The leader who exercises power with honor will work from the inside out starting with himself.
