Punk is musical freedom. It's saying doing and playing what you want. In Webster's terms 'nirvana' means freedom from pain suffering and the external world and that's pretty close to my definition of Punk Rock.
Freedom is a man's natural power of doing what he pleases so far as he is not prevented by force or law.
The things the writers have me doing on 'Suburgatory' are insane. I think they think it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
I did a lot of things that I regretted and I certainly paid for my mistakes. You have to go and ask for forgiveness and it wasn't until I really started doing good and doing right by other people as well as myself that I really started to feel that guilt go away. So I don't have a problem going to sleep at night.
For me forgiveness and compassion are always linked: how do we hold people accountable for wrongdoing and yet at the same time remain in touch with their humanity enough to believe in their capacity to be transformed?
Whatever I'm doing I'm in that moment and I'm doing it. The rest of the world's lost. If I'm cooking some food or making soup I want it to be lovely. If not what's the point of doing it?
I had no accomplishments except surviving. But that isn't enough in the community where I came from because everybody was doing it. So I wasn't prepared for America where everybody is glowing with good teeth and good clothes and food.
Doing things like playing music something that's so natural and basic to human function running around in nature eating delicious food. These things are intrinsic in basic primordial to human beings so that's sort of a way to return to a blank canvas allowing my true personality to return.
I like doing food as a focal point on my table. It is not like going out and buying flowers or candles which are expensive.
Recipes are important but only to a point. What's more important than recipes is how we think about food and a good cookbook should open up a new way of doing just that.
I love doing demonstrations. I think to be a great chef you have to be a great teacher. I love doing classes with people who love food and enjoy food bringing them all around one table so to speak.
Never eat while doing something else because you won't get the satisfaction from your food and you'll be more likely to overeat.
For me food is all about balance. If you eat plenty of fruits vegetables and an appropriate amount of poultry fish and red meat that are sourced from good places you're doing well. It's important to make sure that the meat you're consuming is hormone-free.
I think you can tell the food is close to my heart too because I'm doing what I do best.
Music is one of those things that is constantly going in my head all the time. It's sort of like the evolution and creation of doing food or my philosophy about wine. It's always beating in my head so it keeps the spirit moving.
You go to a show and there's no food at all so if you're doing shows back to back you can forget eating. I remember standing up in the bath one day and there was a mirror in front of me and I was so thin! I hated it. I never liked being that skinny.
You need to put what you learn into practice and do it over and over again until it's a habit. I always say 'Seeing is not believing. Doing is believing.' There is a lot to learn about fitness nutrition and emotions but once you do you can master them instead of them mastering you.
Flexibility is crucial to my fitness. Incorporating a good warm-up and cool-down into every session decreases my chances of injury. I use both dynamic and static stretching in my training. I've starting doing a few yoga sessions which incorporates muscle strength and flexibility.
With both kids I started working out again at 16 days postpartum but I treated myself with kindness doing mild workouts because my fitness level was lower.
I'm doing four hours of gymnastics training a day six days a week and then an extra two to three hours in a fitness center as well.
If I don't feel confident about my body I'm not going to sit at home and feel sorry for myself and not do something about it. It's all about taking action and not being lazy. So you do the work whether it's fitness or whatever. It's about getting up motivating yourself and just doing it.
Training is such a vital part of preparation for a game you really do train to play. It tops up your ability like sharpening a carving knife. You can get away with not doing it for a while as long as you have reached a certain standard of fitness.
Three years after starting by physically doing everything from raising the finance to special effects we'd finally cobbled together our low budget film.
And I think it's a prudent responsible way given the scale of the emergency the scale of the damage still facing America that we finance these additional support for the unemployed as well as the support for small business. We think there's a good case for doing it now. We want to do it in an overall fiscally responsible way.
