Well I think everybody is frustrated by the finances of the U.N. and the inability to solve problems of war and peace.
In a war everybody always knows all about Switzerland in peace times it is just Switzerland but in war time it is the only country that everybody has confidence in everybody.
He who follows his lessons tastes a profound peace and looks upon everybody as a bunch of manure.
I mean you always want everybody to pat you on the back and tell you you're wonderful every time you do something I think that's human nature.
It would be against all nature for all the Negroes to be either at the bottom top or in between. We will go where the internal drive carries us like everybody else. It is up to the individual.
I don't need anybody to market or promote me. If people don't want to hear this music then it's not for them. You cannot please everybody.
Music is a great energizer. It's a language everybody knows.
I've never missed a gig yet. Music makes people happy and that's why I go on doing it - I like to see everybody smile.
Music is everybody's possession. It's only publishers who think that people own it.
A lot of movies aren't intended for everybody.
Everybody gets typecast in movies but you have to make wise choices. I'd say around 90 percent of movie casting is about the way you look so you have to fight that. If producers had their way I'd only be in action films but I'm interested in a more varied career than that.
I grew up on the crime stuff. Spillane Chandler Jim Thompson and noir movies like Fuller Orson Welles Fritz Lang. When I first showed up in New York to write comics back in the late 1970s I came with a bunch of crime stories but everybody just wanted men in tights.
I've managed to do movies and still keep a lifestyle where I can go to ballgames go to a grocery store like everybody else.
For a number of years I'd been around the kind of people who financed movies and the kind of people who are there to make the deals for movies. But I'd always had this naive idea that everybody wants to make movies as good as they can be which is stupid.
I look at myself as an audience member. I still love movies and I still go and sit in the back of the big dark room with everybody else and I want the same thrill.
I watch and listen to movies today and am shocked by the way actors deliver their lines. Everybody mumbles now and I don't understand why.
A lot of times we're just sold these movies that are really cynically conceived and marketed and they just want you there opening weekend before everybody finds out it's not so good.
Not everybody goes to movies to get their life changed.
I'm glad movies aren't going to please everybody they can't. But what they have to be is recognisable. I don't equate myself with a master painter but I think you can recognise my films.
My movies just kind of sneak up on you. I don't have to worry too much about what everybody is going to say. Anyway I really don't pay attention to what the world says about my movies. I just care about what my buddies think.
Sure 'Twilight' is really huge right now and everybody's freaking out over it but it will go away soon and I will be back to doing what I'm used to doing: weird little movies that nobody sees.
Everybody's a filmmaker today.
I don't believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.
For the first-time novelist you've got to get up at 5:30 in the morning and write until 7 make breakfast and go to work. Or come home and work for an hour. Everybody has an hour in their day somewhere.
But honestly if you do a rigorous survey of my work I'll bet you'll find that biology is a theme far more often than physical science.
