One of my pet peeves is that sometimes the talents of my band get overlooked because and it was the same problem that Frank Zappa had with a lot of groups that use humor people don't realize there's a lot of craft behind the comedy.

I love the Beatles. I haven't named any kids after them but I still really love them. They were the first group that I was ever properly aware of. In my early teens I would sometimes stay in and listen to the radio all day in the hope that I would catch a song by them that I'd never heard before and be able to tape it on my radio-cassette player.

When it went on the air the sales department hated it. It was the highest advertising pullout show in the history of NBC. At the early focus groups people were saying 'Who are these people? Why should we watch them?

War had always seemed to me to be a purely human behavior. Accounts of warlike behavior date back to the very first written records of human history it seemed to be an almost universal characteristic of human groups.

It's very attractive to people to be a victim. Instead of having to think out the whole situation about history and your group and what you are doing... if you begin from the point of view of being a victim you've got it half-made. I mean intellectually.

'WASP' is the only ethnic term that is in fact a term of class apart from redneck which is another word for the same group but who are in the lower social strata so it's inexplicably tied up with social standing and culture and history in a way that the other hyphenations just are not.

The health care industry can play a great role in this by being aware of the fact that these children form perhaps the most neglected group of people in the country largely because it is hard to find them.

I think people are confused about what the Tea Party is. I mean they were a broad cross-section of Americans who came together concerned about our debt and our spending. And they're interested in constitutional limited government. And so they're not one group of people. They're thousands of small groups all over the country.

I have long said there are three distinct groups under the GOP's tent: theological warriors who want to impose their social views on the rest of society Tea Party zealots who say with a straight face that they want the government to get out of their Medicare and remnants of the pro-business moderates.

We don't seem to be excited about making our country a better place for our kids.

The virtues like the Muses are always seen in groups. A good principle was never found solitary in any breast.

The EU is not a country and it's not going to become a country in my view now or ever in the future. It is a group of countries working together.

When we criticize in Iran the actions of the government the fundamentalists say that we and the Bush Administration are in the same camp. The funny thing is that human rights activists and Mr. Bush can never be situated in the same group.

You know if I started worrying about what the critics think I'd never make another comedy. You couldn't pick a less funny group than critics - you couldn't find a more bitter group of people!

I'm a big fan of certain new acts. I love any genre of music and I think it's really great to see that there are new artists coming through. It's kinda funny to think that I'm like the old man on campus now. But I'm really happy for groups like One Direction. I think they're really good guys.

If people want to compete for leadership of a religious group they can compete in piety. A chilling thought. Or funny.

Defy your own group. Rebel against yourself.
