What the people want is very simple - they want an America as good as its promise.

Every year we celebrate the holy season of Advent O God. Every year we pray those beautiful prayers of longing and waiting and sing those lovely songs of hope and promise.

One day I promised God that if he would give me my voice back I would never smoke again. I got three octaves back after quitting.

You know what the Englishman's idea of compromise is? He says Some people say there is a God. Some people say there is no God. The truth probably lies somewhere between these two statements.

It is possible to become discouraged about the injustice we see everywhere. But God did not promise us that the world would be humane and just. He gives us the gift of life and allows us to choose the way we will use our limited time on earth. It is an awesome opportunity.

Promises are the uniquely human way of ordering the future making it predictable and reliable to the extent that this is humanly possible.

What I'm concerned about is endless borrowing which is going to compromise our economy not only today but in the future. Because we know the decisions we make right now really dramatically impact us in the future and the debt is literally getting out of our control.

When did the future switch from being a promise to a threat?

Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.

The most glorious moments in your life are not the so-called days of success but rather those days when out of dejection and despair you feel rise in you a challenge to life and the promise of future accomplishments.
