Today I will vote in support of the Marriage Protection Amendment. I shall do so because like President Bush I strongly believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Gay marriage has jumped out of the closet on to the front page. Everyone from the president of the U.S. to retired four-star general Colin Powell is embracing the issue now supported by most Americans. Still a few people like former First Lady Laura Bush appear to be conflicted.

I'd love to have First Lady Michelle Obama over and ask 'How do you make your marriage work?' I think the president is sexy as all get-out but he has got to get on her nerves some kind of way. He's this wonderful powerful man but she sees him leaving his socks on the floor.

I think it's unfortunate that there exists only one path in America to complete social legitimacy and that is marriage. I think for instance that it would be far easier for Americans to elect a black president or a female president than an unmarried president.

During last night's debate John Kerry and John Edwards were so friendly to each other some political experts think that they may end up running together. In fact Kerry and Edwards were so friendly President Bush accused them of planning a gay marriage.

I made a mistake by being ejected from the presidency. Next time I will choose a Cabinet which will allow me to be life President.

If anyone is crazy enough to want to kill a president of the United States he can do it. All he must be prepared to do is give his life for the president's.

The president just as any other American deserves a legal defense against personal lawsuits not related to his office. But the costs of that defense should be borne by him and not the taxpayer.

We do not believe voters gave President Bush a mandate to turn back the clock decades on so many of our legal protections.

I believe that President Clinton considered the legal merits of the arguments for the pardon as he understood them and he rendered his judgment wise or unwise on the merits.

Moreover from reforming the tax code to our immigration system to commonsense legal reform President Bush put America on notice that he will continue fighting to make the country and the world a better place for future generations.

Human-rights advocates for example claim that the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners is of a piece with President Bush's 2002 decision to deny al Qaeda and Taliban fighters the legal status of prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions.

Being a press secretary is like learning to type: You're hunting and pecking for a while and then you find yourself doing the touch system and don't realize it. You're speaking for the president without ever having to go to him.

The House has passed several bipartisan bills to ensure all Americans have the opportunity to secure a good job to provide for their families. All of these jobs bills deserve the support of our Senators and a strong show of leadership from the president.

At an unprecedented time with the worst attack ever on our soil our President displayed extraordinary determination leadership and resolve when history was thrust upon him and the United States.

We have now under President Obama's leadership had 29 months in a row of private sector job growth. That stretch of positive private sector job growth hasn't happened since 2005. We still have a long way to go but we are moving in the right direction.

The President's speech suggested to me that were we to follow his leadership we will be in Iraq not for months but for years. I also hope I am wrong on this.

To be elected president you have to do more than tear down your opponents. You have to give the American people a reason to vote for you - a reason to hope - a reason to believe that under your leadership America will be better.

We need the kind of leadership exemplified by President Kennedy to just do it! But we must do it as good stewards aggressively exerting control over the moon. We can best do this by going there.

The public sector certainly includes the Department of Labor. Those are jobs that are available. They are open and they are good paying jobs. The government as a whole has been actually retrenching under President Clinton's leadership.

The truth is the Republican leadership has created a credit card Congress that is recklessly selling out the future of America our children and our grandchildren and President Bush is the most fiscally irresponsible President in the history of America.

President Bush offers the American people an optimistic vision and a clear choice in November. The President has provided steady leadership in remarkably changing times. He knows exactly where he wants to lead this country and he has complete confidence in the American people.

So President Obama wants to change America. I understand that. We don't need to change America. We need to change the White House. We need to change the leadership in the White House.

The fact is five months ago this was an issue that people weren't really talking that much about. Because of the president's leadership because he's brought it to people's attention it's now a top issue.
