It's great that New York has large spaces for art. But the enormous immaculate box has become a dated even oppressive place. Many of these spaces were designed for sprawling installations large paintings and the Relational Aesthetics work of the past fifteen years.

Can space break? I mean the space of art galleries. Over the past 100 years art galleries have gone from looking like Beaux Arts salons to simple storefronts to industrial lofts to the gleaming giant white cubes of Chelsea with their shiny concrete floors.

There's something pleasing about large well-lit spaces. I love that dealers are willing to take massive chances in order to give this much room to their artists. Most of all I love that more galleries showing more art gives more artists a shot.

Galleries began growing in both number and size in the late seventies when artists who worked in lofts wanted to exhibit their work in spaces similar to the ones the art was made in.

Space is the breath of art.

Every bit of me is devoted to love and art. And I aspire to try to be a teacher to my young fans who feel just like I felt when I was younger. I just felt like a freak. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm trying to liberate them I want to free them of their fears and make them feel that they can make their own space in the world.

What art offers is space - a certain breathing room for the spirit.

You might say that when you step inside you're entering a honorific space but that's something totally different than experiencing it. And in architecture the experience comes first. That has the deepest effect on us.

Architecture is about public space held by buildings.

Spiritual space is lost in gaining convenience. I saw the need to create a mixture of Japanese spiritual culture and modern western architecture.

All architecture is shelter all great architecture is the design of space that contains cuddles exalts or stimulates the persons in that space.

Architecture is the will of an epoch translated into space.

As a designer the mission with which we have been charged is simple: providing space at the right cost.

Architects in the past have tended to concentrate their attention on the building as a static object. I believe dynamics are more important: the dynamics of people their interaction with spaces and environmental condition.

I love building spaces: architecture furniture all of it probably more than fashion. The development procedure is more tactile. It's about space and form and it's something you can share with other people.

To me a building - if it's beautiful - is the love of one man he's made it out of his love for space materials things like that.

Space has always been the spiritual dimension of architecture. It is not the physical statement of the structure so much as what it contains that moves us.

Architecture is the art of how to waste space.

I'm not as angry as I used to be. But I can get in touch with that anger pretty quickly if I feel my space is being invaded or somebody is not treating me with the respect that I think I want.

Painting is the most magical of mediums. The transcendence is truly amazing to me every time I go to a museum and I see how somebody figured another way to rub colored dirt on a flat surface and make space where there is no space or make you think of a life experience.

I spend up to two hours a day on correspondence. Hearing from fans on the Internet and being able to directly respond to the fan base is exciting. You can cut out the middle man like the fan club... before a recent appearance in Tyler Texas I had fans reaching out on MySpace offering their lake house Mavericks tickets. It was amazing.

I love MySpace it's done an amazing job for me and it's been insane over the past couple of weeks but I'm not a poster girl for them.

It's amazing that this is all happening to Lost in Space.

But it was great we sit in the same dressing room where like Johnny Cash sat and Willie Nelson and all those guys. That was in itself something amazing - I was on the same space these guys stood on ya know?
